Trade in winter blues for rockin’ blues rhythms on the Gold Coast this May

Celebrating over 20 years of showcasing world-class blues music by the beach, Blues on Broadbeach triumphantly returns to the Gold Coast over four jam-packed days this May.

The perfect excuse to escape the chillier months in New Zealand, the award-winning festival is free to attend and is the ideal backdrop for music lovers from all walks of life to take some time off and enjoy everything South East Queensland has on offer.

Dedicated to bringing together a lineup of national and international blues masters, Blues on Broadbeach is one of Australia’s largest and much-loved festivals that has earned its stripes as a captivating musical experience with deep roots in the blues community.

With over 50 artists, multiple indoor and outdoor stages, and beautiful white sandy beaches just a few steps from the live music – the 2023 bill is sure to entice blues fans from across Australia, NZ and further afield, after the reopening of international borders saw an enthusiastic attendance from overseas fans in 2022.

This year’s festival boasts an impressive lineup of big name Australian and international artists, including two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel, Don Walker, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Emma Donovan & the Putbacks, Chris Cheney, The Kevin Borich Express, Marcus Scott & the Bo Keys (USA), Tommy McLain featuring C.C. Adcock (USA) and many more.

“The Blues on Broadbeach team are gearing up for a rhythms, blues, and roots festival like no other, with some legendary international acts joining plenty of homegrown talent on our Blues on Broadbeach stages.” said Major Events Gold Coast Director of Festival and Events Mark Duckworth. “We look forward to adding even more friends to the festival family in 2023.”

Performing at Blues on Broadbeach for the first time is Albi & The Wolves (NZ), who will be joining the lineup from across the pond – proudly representing some of Aotearoa’s finest folk music. Don’t miss the New Zealand band’s first Broadbeach show plus the opportunity to witness Australia’s reigning queen of soul Emma Donovan with her rich, gospel infused vocals.

With music legends such as Tommy Emmanuel, Tommy McLain and Marcus Scott touring from the USA, Queensland is primed to be a hotspot for music lovers this May.
